I’ve loved taking photographs since I was very small, I’m more a landscape and transport person than people, I don’t know why thats just the way I am. I love the weather, and the effects it has on the countryside around me, I love taking my camera out with me and exploring the world around, once you get the bug it opens your eyes to everything around you, you see more in your environment your eyes are opened to the photographic possibilities of every situation. Its snowing now here in Norfolk, I can’t wait to get out and take some ‘snaps’ I feel like a kid let loose in a sweetshop….
MITCH IN THE KITCHEN: post-thanksgiving post, 2012 edition
After three consecutive years, Thanksgiving at my small apartment is becoming a pants-busting tradition that I love dearly and look forward to every year. Planning starts in October with a series of questions: How can I avoid having to roast a whole turkey ever again? Are we ready for…
MITCH IN THE KITCHEN: lentil and mushroom shepherd's pie
This week, I discovered that I love leftover mashed potatoes more than I ever thought I would. Like, I will eat them cold for breakfast, straight out of a big plastic leftovers container. Still, I did take the time to refashion them into an actual hot meal: vegetarian shepherd’s pie, perfect…
MITCH IN THE KITCHEN: feasting on christmas eve
This year I was lucky enough to host not one, but two holiday dinners with the in-laws. I say that without any sarcasm at all, because they are great and I love these opportunities to cook several different things and eat leftovers until I can’t stand it anymore. This meal’s requisite large…
MITCH IN THE KITCHEN: broccoli slaw
Staycation, all I ever wanted. I’m always a little amazed by how much loafing happens anytime I have time off (thesis? what thesis?). At least I can be proud of all the wholesome food I’ve been eating, made possible by unlimited lunch breaks from watching TV, dicking around online, and…
MITCH IN THE KITCHEN: fish poached in fennel-tomato sauce
Here’s my latest in eating well while eating light. I think almost any kind of fish would work; I’ve tried both salmon and tilapia with pretty good results. Have it with something fluffy that can soak up all the extra sauce, like bread, couscous, rice, polenta, quinoa, or mashed potatoes.

MITCH IN THE KITCHEN: kimchi quesadilla with apple salsa
I know it’s supposed to be cold this time of year but the lack of surprise doesn’t temper how unpleasant it feels to step outside. I think it takes me 15 minutes to get dressed to leave and just as long to unwrap all the wool when I crawl back indoors. My week has been slow and uneventful…
jicama and orange salad
Another pretty salad to add to my repertoire. This recipe calls for clementines (the small “cutie” tangerines) but we can all probably just go ahead and use whatever citrus fruit we want (I used pinkish cara cara oranges).

I am still experimenting with style and type of photography so bear with me if you decide to follow me (which I hope you do!).
My gear consists of an Olympus OMD - EM5 camera combined with 28 mm and 50 mm Carl Zeiss prime lenses (Biogion and Planar ZM lenses).
